Description(1) Copy of the statute of Gavelet (as in DCc-ChAnt/L/1A), setting out the procedure by which archbishops, bishops, earls and barons can recover arrears of rent from lands in London through the court of Husting.

(2) Copy of a writ of Gavelet or 'Scire Facias'.

(3) Copy of pleas of Gavelet between the master of St Bartholomew's Hospital, Smithfield, London and William Blakemore, chaplain, and Thomas de Rous de lytlyngton', concerning arrears of rent for a messuage and 4 shops in the suburbs of London. First hearing on 22 Jul 1336, subsequent hearings on 16 Feb and 16 Mar 1338. It was decided that the master should hold the lands of William and Thomas as Shortford ('Shartford') and William and Thomas were in mercy.
