Knockholt is part of the rectory of Orpington. Robert lease John a messuage in Knockholt parish ('Nockholt') normally occupied by the curate of Knockholt, glebe lands in Knockholt parish and the small tithes of Knockholt which are normally received by the curate. Also the tithes of grain and other tithes, great and small, from 637 acres of land and pasture in Knockholt parish (acreages and names of present and former occupiers of individual holdings given). Reserving the great tithes from certain specified lands (acreages and names of present and former occupiers of individual holdings given) and the tithes of any woodland later converted to arable. Also reserving the property to be leased by Robert to Sir Nicholas Carew, bt, and Nicholas Carew, esq, by the lease of the rectory of Orpington. For the lives of Richard Gee the elder of Orpington, esq, Philippa his wife and Richard his younger son. For an annual payment of 1d. For this John has also paid 5s as a consideration. If John died or leaves the curacy within the term, Robert will grant the property to his successor. Robert appoints an attorney (unnamed) to deliver seisin to John. The lease is made 'for providing a more comfortable substance' for the curate. Dated 1720, no day or month. Many alterations and interlineations.
