| Description | From: [William Molashe, I, prior of Canterbury Cathedral Priory?] To: [Walter Whyttey, attorney of Prior William Molashe, I, in Ireland?]
The addressee is to receive the annual pension from Tintern Abbey [County Wexford, Ireland], together with arrears, which stood at 78 marks on 8 Sep last and will be 91 marks and odd silver on 8 Sep next. If poverty prevents the abbey from paying in full, he is to obtain £20 and his travelling expenses. He is to encourage the abbey to farm out as much of the fruits and obventions it holds of the priory as will enable it to pay the annual pension of 13 marks and a quarterly payment of 40s towards the arrears. If the abbey agrees to this, the addressee is to give it the blue cope the priory sent him. If not, he is to keep the cope for himself and let the law take its course. Sealed with the writer's signet. Dated 10 May, no year. [Date: dates of Prior William Molashe, I.] Given at Canterbury. |
