Showing the arrears of a pension payable to the priory by Tintern Abbey, alias 'de voto' [County Wexford, Ireland], from 1423 to 1429. An account was made with James Cornwaleys, chief ('precipuus') baron of the Irish Exchequer on 7 Feb 1426 before of John Bamburgh' and John Pyrye, showing that, before the king's letters patent dated 5 Jan 1423 were obtained, the abbot owed Prior John [Wodnesbergh, II] and the chapter £23 7s 4d for a third part of the pension. The pension was owed for 7 years after the letters patent were obtained, making total arrears of £84 8d. James Cornwaleys paid John Woodnesbergh £20 and 'Dominus' James Boteler, earl of Ormond, paid Prior William Molashe [I] £20, leaving £44 8d. The annual pension of 13 marks is due on 8 Sep. No date. [Date: handwritng, date of original and last date mentioned in memorandum.] Original dated 12 Apr 1430. Followed by memorandum stating the Walter had an acquittance for £12, leaving arrears of £32 8d. After 8 Sep [1430] Prior William was owed £8 13s 4d. The arrears due on 10 Mar 1431 was £40 14s, and Walter has an acquittance for £12 of this.
Endorsed with address to 'my most Worthy lord lord .ill' of Ormond', or the master of the hospital of St Thomas of Acon, London, in his absence, from the prior in mid 15th cent hand. |
