Recites:
(1) Writ of Edward III, issued by the Irish Chancery, addressed to the abbot of Tintern Abbey [County Wexford, Ireland], dated 1 Dec 1376 at Castledermot ('Tristeldermot') [County Kildare]. The king has been shown that the abbot and convent owe the prior and convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory an annual pension of 13 marks, payable as specified, for the income from churches in Ireland which the priory gave them. Although the pension is for spiritualities, it has been taken into the king's hands by virtue of the ordinance requiring landlords of Irish properties to live in Ireland. The king wishes to restore the pension to the priory and has issued a writ requiring the justiciar, chancellor, treasurer and barons of the Exchequer of Ireland to deliver it to the prior or his attorney, the prior's absence from Ireland notwithstanding. The prior appoints William Ilger and John underhull' as his attornies to receive the pension. In future, it is not to be paid to the Irish Exchequer or spent on the king's wars there, but is to be paid to the prior's attornies. The king commands the abbot to pay the pension to the prior as he did before the ordinance.

(2) Letters of acquittance sealed with the seal of William Ilger, dated 2 Nov 1377. He has received the payment of 13 marks due from Tintern Abbey in 1377. The abbey had also shown him an acquittance for the payment due in 1376, sealed with the priory's common seal and dated 8 Jul. The aquittances, the records of the king's Exchequer in Ireland and the account between himself and the abbey all show that the abbey owes the priory nothing until 1378.
