DescriptionFrom: D [David O' Cossaig], bishop of Emly ('Imelacen'') [County Tipperary, Ireland]
To: the prior and convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory

Relating to a dispute between the cathedral priory and St John's Priory, Kilkenny. The bishop has entrusted the execution of the sentence committed to him by the pope through the treasurer of Lismore to Mgr David, treasurer of Emly ('ecclesia nostra'). David has executed the sentence by putting the cathedral priory's proctors into possession of its churches of St Ewynus and St Mary in New Ross and Kilkenny Priory and its supporters have been excommunicated because of their disobedience to the pope's mandate. David has been deprived of his temporalities at the petition of Kilkenny Priory and has not received the issues of his prebendary for 3 years. The bishop therefore asks the priory to compensate him, particularly while he is staying in the schools. If anything remains to be done in the execution of the sentence, David will complete it. The bishop intends to visit St Thomas's tomb before he goes to Ireland. No date. [Date: David O' Cossaig's dates.]

Endorsed with quotations from St John's gospel in 14th cent hand.
