Establishing a chantry of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St Katherine and All Saints in the nave of Ickham church, with the special licence of William [Courtenay], archbishop of Canterbury. Reserving the patronage to himself. Details of the services to be performed and the chaplain's conditions of residence. List of the church goods with which the chantry is endowed, including their value. The chaplain is to commemorate the souls of Christina, John's wife, John's parents, Mgr Robert Sobbury, late rector of Ickham, Thomas de Baa, 'Dominus' William Northo, chaplain, Thomas Peny and Joan his wife, Thomas Garwynton' of Well [in Ickham], William atte Bartone and 'Dominus' John Depynge chaplain, who gave 20s to the chantry with the intention that each priest of the chantry should receive 20s from his predecessor and leave 20s for his successor. Also the prior and convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory who gave licence for the chantry [added in the margin]. He endows the chantry with 5 tenements, 34 acres of land, 4 acres of meadow, a payment of 4s and a payment of 4 quarters of palm-barley in Ickham and Littlebourne. Provisions for increasing the endowment if no priest will serve the chantry because of its poverty. Provisions for the custody and care of the books, vestments, plate, documents relating to the endowment and other valuables of the chantry. An indenture is to be drawn up for the church goods normally retained by the priest, and the patron and churchwardens to have one part and the priest the other.
