To: John Holbakk of Ickham

A piece of land 1½ roods wide and 8 roods long, parcel of his tenement called 'le Bolles' tenement, with a water pit ('puteus aquatiqus'), lying with the tenement of John holbakk, late of John Copphew, to west, the tenement of John atte Berton' called 'le Bolles' tenement to east, the field of the prior of Canterbury Cathedral Priory to north and 'Cotmanstrete' to south. For an annual payment of 2 hens in good condition ('abilis gallina') without food and drink ('sine potu et prandio') or 8d, payable as specified in his dwelling house ('mancio') in Ickham or where ever else he is living. Right of distraint if payment in arrears. If John Holbakk builds or sets up ('planto') anything new (de novo') on the land he shall maintain and repair it to the value if 6d. If the building falls into disrepair to the value of 6d and he does not repair it within 3 months John atte Berton' can re-enter the land. If the payment of 2 hens is in arrears for 2 years, and there are not goods which can be distrained upon the tenement, John atte Berton' can re-enter the land.
