| Description | From: Henry, son of Theobald of Lee [in Ickham]; Thomas, son of Theobald of Lee [in Ickham]; Laurence, son of Theobald of Lee [in Ickham]; John, son of Theobald of Lee [in Ickham] To: William Graciani
4 acres of land in Ickham ('Iecham'), lying to the south of the land called 'meleteghe'. For an annual payment of 12d, payable as specified at Ickham church. For this William has also paid 10 marks as a gersum fine. The grant is made with the consent of Sibyl, mother of Henry, Thomas, Laurence and John, who has also sealed the document. No date. [Date: attached quitclaim dated 23 Apr 1234.] On attached parchment slip, passage in Hebrew, followed by acknowledgement in Latin by Samsom the Jew of Canterbury that Sibyl, the widow of Theobald of Lee, and Theobald's heirs are acquitted of all debts they owe him from the creation of the world until 23 Apr 1234. In Bunce's catalogue, William Urry pasted a transcription of the Hebrew passage, together with a translation into English. The text of the translation resembles the Latin acknowledgement.
