| Description | From: Thomas Chillenden, I, prior of Canterbury Cathedral Priory; the convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory To: Stephen Piper, of Tenterden, priory tenant; Thomas Dunnce, of Tenterden, priory tenant; William Amyot of Tenterden, priory tenant
Evidence shows that the priory leased its estate ('fundu'') in Tenterden in the denn of 'Southsandherst' for fealty, a fine of 5s for dispensing with ('relaxand'') suit of court of their manor of Ickham, and payments as specified, including 17d for a corrody and a payment for the right to cut trees ('daungerium'). The present tenants ('tenentes moderni') and other intruders ('invasores') have been infringing the priory's timber rights. The priory grants them timber rights as specified. For a payment of 20d and an annual rent of assize and the services and ancient rents of the same denn. Right of distraint. Reserving to the priory fealty, the payment for suit of court and the rents, services and customs anciently due, and 'daungerium' of 12d, except pannage, which is owed when it occurs. Priory's part of indenture. Given at the chapter house of Canterbury Cathedral Priory.
