Description | Party: 'Dominus' William Woghope, I, manor warden of Canterbury Cathedral Priory Party: Elfrida, widow of William Manser of Hadleigh
Elfrida holds divers lands and tenements in the demesnes of Hadleigh for various payments to the annual value of 36s 11d. William remits 2s 11d of this, so that in future she shall only pay 34s, on condition that the priory and its servants ('ministri') shall have clay from Elfrida's pit called 'kyngespet' whenever necessary for ('ad rammandum') its fulling mill, with a right of way along the way used by Elfrida. The priory is also to have land from ½ acre of Elfrida's meadow called 'Coupasture' lying next to the mill dam ('le melledam') to mend the dam, with a right of way as for the pit. If Elfrida hinders the priory or their servants ('ministri') in carrying the clay or from entering the land, so that the mill suffers damage, then she shall pay the whole 36s 11d. Made in the presence of Richard lyteman, John Alisandr', Norman Loveman and others.
Endorsed 'Hadleh'' in 14th cent hand. |
