The jurors say that Osbert Dore held the messuages contained in the writ of [the prior of] Canterbury Cathedral Priory in Hadleigh [Suffolk] at the prior's will and that he alienated one to Thomas Sugge and the other to Simon le Teynturer. The prior confirmed these demises and an increase in the rent without prejudice to the king or anyone else. They also say that Thomas le Fene' and John ... [held] 3 acres of land in the vill ('villa') of Monks Eleigh [Suffolk] for the service which Stephen le Fene', their father, had made, and that the 3 acres of land came into the prior's hands as an escheat because of a felony committed by ...
