The names of some of the tenants and other details are supplied from the registered versions.] Robert, John Lambyn, John de Chilindenn', Hugh's heirs, Peter, Richard, Adam de Truhestede and Adam le Ramme are tenants of the lands which were of Stephen de Thorne. Peter and Ralph Corncherle are tenants of the lands which were of Robert the weaver.
Stephen de Thorne, called Admer, of Godmersham sold the priory an annual payment of 1½ seams of palm-barley ('ordeum palmal'') and 7d, payable by Robert the weaver ('tixtor') for 2 acres and 3 virgates of land in 'Popindane' in the holding of Godmershamand also charged all his lands and tenements in the holding of Godmersham with it. Robert also acknowledged that he was bound to the priory for the payment from those lands and charged all his lands in the holding of Godmersham with it if it could not be levied from the lands specified.
On 14 Jul the tenants of the lands which were Stephen's and the lands which were Robert's were charged ('calumpniati fuerunt') in the priory's treasury with 2 years' arrears of the payment. They acknowledged that they were bound to pay the arrears as specified, the palm-barley at the manor of Godmersham and the money in the priory's treasury. John atte Steghele, John of Brabourne ('Braburne'), John of East Stour ('Estesture') and John pipel were pledges for them. The arrears were to be collected from the tenants in equal portions. They also acknowledged that they were bound to make the payment each year as specified. It was agreed that, because the tenants were bound to make the payment by equal portions, one moiety of the 2 acres 3 virgates of land should remain to the tenants of the lands which were Stephen's and the other to the tenants of the lands which were Robert's.
