In the king's court at Canterbury before William of York, William de insula, Ralph of Norwich and Hugh de Pleyz, justices itinerant, and others, on 9 May 1236.
The prior is acting through Nicholas de Ores, his proctor. Nicholas capup acknowledged that 20 acres of land in Gore ('Gare') [in Eastry, or, possibly, Adisham] which the priory had of the gift of Richard capup his father, whose heir he is, is the right of the priory. The priory is to hold the land in free, pure and perpetual alms. For this the prior has received Nicholas into the prayers and benefits of his church. [The prior is either John de Sittingbourne, I, or John de Chetham.]
