The gift which Bartholomew Pipel made to the priory of the tenement which he held of Hugh in Godmersham, consisting of 5 acres and ½ a virgate of arable land and an annual payment of 3s 9d and 5 hens. Payable as specified by Pagan le tailur, James the smith ('faber') Roger Daneis and Michael, Ralph and Bartholomew, sons of Robert Walewere. Payable for 2 acres and ½ a virgate of land, the site of James the smith's forge ('situs fabrice dicti Jacobi'), ½ an acre of land and 1 acre of land. These lands ('quae terrae') lie in 1 block with the way which goes to Hugh's house to south, the field of the court of Godmersham to north, the king's highway to east and Hugh's land to west. The lands are to be assessed at 8 acres and 3 virgates when the men of Godmersham pay scot. For an annual payment of 18d and 2 hens, payable as specified by Michael Ralph and Bartholomew, sons of Robert Walewere. For this the priory has also paid 15s as a gersum fine.
