To: the abbot and convent of Faversham Abbey

The whole of his land of 'messewella' [unidentified, possibly in manor of Tring, Hertfordshire, which was granted to Faversham Abbey by Queen Matilda]. For an annual payment of £10, payable as specified. For this the abbey has also paid 100 marks. The grant is made with the consent of his sons, Robert, William, Baldwin, John and Conon and is for his soul and the souls of his wife Alice, all his ancestors and all his friends. Confirmed by King Henry son of the empress [Henry II]. No date. [Date: Henry II's dates. There are references to Robert of Bethune in the Pipe Rolls for 1176 and 1182 - see R W Eyton, Court, household and itinerary of King Henry II (London, 1888), pp205 and 248.]
