The abbey gives Ralph, John Tent, William, John Sheldwych, Robert and John Flemyng licence to grant 1 messuage and 140 acres of land in Faversham, Sheldwich and Preston next Faversham to the priory, to be held of the abbey. The abbey also grants the priory licence to receive the lands. It also grants a special licence ('licencia specialis'), the statute of mortmain not withstanding. The priory grants that as often as the church of Canterbury falls vacant by the death, resignation or deprivation of the prior or for any other reason, the next prior shall pay the abbey a moiety of the rent for the lands as a relief called 'landchep'.
