DescriptionParty: the prior of Canterbury Cathedral Priory
Party: the inhabitants of Fordwich

Made in the presence of 'Monsieur' Thomas Spigurnell, lieutenant of the constable of Dover and warden of the Cinque Ports, and the mayor, bailiffs and other good people of Sandwich. The priory and people of Fordwich pasture and intercommon on each other's meadows east of the church of Fordwich annually from 1 Aug to 2 Feb. All kinds of animals except pigs, can be pastured there, according to the number of acres each party has in the meadows. Neither party shall pasture any animals on the priory's meadow, about which there is a dispute, until the king [Edward III] and 'Monsieur' Bartholomew de Bourghasse, or one of them, come. In the meantime, the said distraint [there does not seem to be an earlier mention of the distraint] shall remain with intermediaries who have promised to return it within a month after the king and Bartholomew's arrival.
