DescriptionDocuments presented by Sir Thomas Cheyne, knight, concerning 'Scottismersshe' in Iden parish, Sussex. He is claiming land as described on p4.

(p1) Lease from John Salern of Rye to Richard Thomas of Brookland parish of 112 acres of land in Iden parish. Lying with 'Keteflete' inlet to north, the Kent 'marcu'' to east, the land of 'Dominus' Edward Dalyngregge to south, and the inlet from Winchelsea to Appledore to west. For a term of 20 years, for an annual payment of 12s. Dated 10 May 1381, recte 1391. (pp2-3) Discussion of boundaries of this land.

(p5) Agreement between John Scott, knight, and William Cheyne, esq, son and heir of John Cheyne of the Isle of Sheppey, knight. William will lease to John his salt marsh which abuts on 'Bowett'' salt marsh, Kete marsh, the channel from the 'podill' between Camber ('the Chamber') and Winchelsea to Appledore, and the salt marsh of Robertsbridge Abbey.
