Date[c1315]
DescriptionFrom: Robert of Longjumeau ('longemel'), serjeant of Canterbury Cathedral Priory ('vostre sergant')
To: [Henry of Eastry], prior of Canterbury Cathedral Priory

He has only received a small amount of money for the wines this year. The king of France has seized the wine to send to Flanders. The king claims that the wine has no value and that Robert would be paid on Monsieur ('misire') Charles's [Charles de Valois?] instruction to the treasurers, but that he can do nothing until after the war with Flanders. The money Robert has handed to 'Mestre' John of Winchelsea ('Winchilse') is his own money. He asks the prior to let him know how much he has received from John and to let him have a copy of his last letter which he sent by William ('guille''), John's ('son') squire, because he has lost the bag ('bourse') where his records ('parties') were. Dated Tuesday after 8 Sep, no year. [Date: Louis X's campaign against Flanders.]
