| Description | From: Robert, count of Boulogne and Auvergne To: the monks of Canterbury Cathedral Priory
Addressed to all his men and officers ('minister') of Wissant ('Witsando'), Boulogne ('bolonia'), 'Niwene' and Calais [all Pas-de-Calais]. He confirms to the priory the liberties his ancestors gave them, namely toll ('theoloneum') and all customs exacted in Wissant, Boulogne, 'Niewene' and Calais from those crossing. The monks, their messengers and their servants ('serviens') are to be free from toll, pedage and all other customs and he forbids his men and officers to trouble them about this matter. The grant is made for the honour of God and of St Thomas and the souls of himself, his parents and heirs.
