| Description | From: Henry II, king of England To: the convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory
Exemption ('quietantia') through his whole land for transporting ('duco') the 100 measures of wine which Louis [VII] king of France gave them. No custom is to be exacted from them or their servants transporting the wine. The grant is made for the love of God and of St Thomas Becket. No date. [Date: after Louis's pilgrimage of 22-26 Aug 1179 and before the nomination of John Cumin as archbishop of Dublin on 6 Sep 1181. Probably immediately after Louis' pilgrimage and before Henry's departure for France in Apr 1180.
