| Description | From: Matthew, count of Boulogne To: Canterbury Cathedral Priory
Addressed to all his men and officers ('minister') of Wissant ('Witsando') and Boulogne ('bolonia') [both Pas-de-Calais]. He grants the priory the toll ('theoloneum') and all customs exacted in Wissant, Boulogne or 'Niewene' from those crossing. The monks, their messengers and their servants ('serviens') are to be free from toll, pedage and all other customs and he forbids his men and officers to trouble them about this matter. The grant is made for the love of God and the honour of St Thomas Becket and for the his soul and the souls of his wife and his heirs. No date. [Date: St Thomas's death and handwriting.]
