| Description | From: John, count of Ponthieu To: Canterbury Cathedral Priory
The priory, its monks, servants ('serviens') and men shall be free from pedage, toll ('theloneum') and all other customs of his land. He forbids anyone to trouble the priory or its men about anything in his land. The grant is made from the love of God and reverence for St Thomas and for the souls of himself, his wife, his heirs and his father and mother. Made in the chapter house ('capitiulum') of Canterbury when the convent granted him their fraternity ('societas') and the benefit ('beneficium') of their church. No date. [Date: handwriting.]
