| Description | Copies of 7 charters by the kings of France, concerning the 100 measures of wine granted by them to the convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory. Recites:
(1) Louis VII's charter, dated at Canterbury, 1179, granting the priory 100 measures of wine of the measure of Paris, and exempting them from tolls as far as he can (DCc-ChAnt/F/90).
(2) Philip II's charter, dated at Mantes ('Madunte') [Seine-et-Oise], 1180, confirming Louis VII's grant (DCc-ChAnt/F/92).
(3) Philip II's charter, dated 1189, granting the monks the wine from Triel [sur-Seine, Yvelines] and, if it cannot be fully supplied there, from his cellar in the castle at Poissy [Yvelines] (DCc-ChAnt/F/94).
(4) Louis IX's charter, dated at St Germain-en-Laye ('Sanctus Germanus in Laya') [Seine-et-Oise], 1235, specifing that the wine is to be supplied from Triel and Chantelop-les-Vignes and, failing that, from Poissy (DCc-ChAnt/F/99).
(5) Louis IX's charter, dated at Amiens ('Ambian'') [Somme], Jan 1263. This summarises numbers 1-4 above. In addition, Louis grants that the wine and anything for the monks' use which can be proved by the oath of a servant at the command ('mandatum') of any monk deputed for that purpose is to be free of tolls ('passagium'), as far as it affects him.
(6) Philip IV's charter, dated at the castle of Lyons ('Leonum') [Rhône], Aug 1286. This recites number 5 above. Philip grants the priory immunity from tolls ('passagium') for the wine or anything else for their use which can be proved in the manner specified as far as it affects him.
(7) Charles IV's charter, dated at the tower of 'Gronio'? in 'Valesio' (Valois?), Jun 1322. This recites number 6 above. Charles confirms the previous grants.
