| Description | From: Robert de Bello, abbot of St Augustine's Abbey, Canterbury; Eudo, prior of St Augustine's Abbey, Canterbury; Nicholas of Shottenden, priory of St Gregory's Priory, Canterbury
Recites the charter of Louis IX, dated at St Germain-en-Laye [in Seine-et-Oise] ('Sanctus Germanus in Laya'), 1235, which in turn recites the charter of Philip II, dated at Mantes ('Madunte') [Seine-et-Oise], 1180 (DCc-ChAnt/F/99 and DCc-ChAnt/F/92). Philip's charter confirmed Louis VII's grant of 100 measures of wine to the priory and Louis IX's charter specified the places from which the wine was to be supplied. The writers commend these grants as an example of good works. [Example of French royal mongram under the plica.]
