A dispute between the countess and the abbey concerning the patronage of Elham church was pending before the king's justices itinerant at Canterbury. The parties submitted the dispute to E[dmund of Abingdon], archbishop of Canterbury, who decided that the advowson belonged to the countess. The rector of the church is to pay the abbey an annual pension of 20 marks as a benefice without cure of souls ('simplex beneficium'). No date. [Date: Edmund of Abingdon's dates.]
