Description | From: Richard of Dover, archbishop of Canterbury and papal legate
When William of Eynsford, father of William Guram, wished to become a monk at Canterbury Cathedral Priory, he granted the prior and convent the church of Eynsford by placing a folding knife ('cutellus...complicatus') and a silver basin ('Bacchila') upon the altar in the presence of Richard and many others. His son William Guram was present and consented to his father's grant. Richard confirms the grant. No date. [Date: as in English Episcopal Acta, cited below.]
