[Document damaged. Large area of text lost. Sense unclear in places.] There has been a dispute between Walter and the priory concerning rents for lands lying within the priory's manor of Eastry and an annual payment of 13s 4d for 50 acres of land which Walter's ancestors paid the priory. To avoid any ambiguity in the future, Walter acknowledges that...14½ acres, ½ a rood and 4 perches of land...of which 9 acres and 17 perches lie in Gore and 'Caldecote'.. Thomas lorchyn' to north, the land of Robert Bartelot and the said Walter...virgate and 4 perches lie with the land of John Payntour of Sandwich, late of William Byllyngton' to east...5 acres and 16 perches lie with the land called 'Thornton Dane' to east, [the land of ] Robert...1 acre of land late Thomas Paulisham lie with the land of Thomas Roger' to east, the land of Robert...to west, and 3½ acres...in 'Thornton Dane' within the lordship of Eastry. For an annual payment of...14½ acres, ½ a rood and 4 perches of land at the manor of Eastry...¾d and half of ¼d...also a payment of 2 cocks and 4 hens to the priory's sacrist for the land in 'Thornton Dane'. Several alterations and interlineations.
Endorsed with a note concerning a payment of 2s from some land at Thornton in Shingleton parish ('schrinkelyng'), and the church of Tilmanston receiving tithes from that land in late 15th cent hand. |
