Description | From: Mgr Simon Langton, archdeacon of Canterbury To: the prior and convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory
The church of Teynham has been united with the archdeaconry of Canterbury by the grant of Stephen Langton, archbishop of Canterbury, and with the consent of the priory's chapter. Not wishing this to be to the prejudice of the prior and convent, the archdeacon grants and confirms that they shall possess the tithes of Elverton within Stone [by Faversham] parish, which is a chapel of Teynham, as they have done from ancient times. The parishioners of Stone shall receive their spiritual rights in the church of Stone and pay their tithes to the priory.
Endorsed with description in mid and late 13th cent hands and note of registration in late 13th cent hand. |
