DescriptionFrom: Henry of Elverton ('Eylwardton'), son of William
To: the prior and convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory

5 acres of his land at Elverton ('Eylwadton'') [in Stone by Faversham], lying with the land of Thomas of Elverton to west, the land of William of Stone ('stane') and the king's highway to east, the marsh to north and Thomas's land to south. Also pasture for 16 sheep in the marsh of Eleverton. For a term of 7 years, for payments of 40 shillings, payable to Henry by the priory's treasurers, and 50s, payable by the priory's treasurers to 'Dominus' Roger of Lynsted on Henry's behalf to redeem ('ad redimendum') the said land and pasture. Of this sum, 50s should be withdrawn as the fruits of the land and pasture for the 7 years, the rest to be restored to the treasurers at the end of the term. If Henry does not repay the 50s, the priory may hold the land and pasture for another 6 years, making a total of 13 years. Henry's part of indenture sealed with the seals of Henry and of Laurence [III], Gregory [III] and Roger [VI], the priory's treasurers. Probably priory's part of indenture.

Witnesses: Richard of Elverton; Godfrey of Elverton; John of Elverton; Thomas of Elverton; William of Stone; Benedict the porter ('portarius'); Alexander de Scalar'; Roger Peltebeam; Richard son of Mabel; Richard barun; Aylward ('Eilwardus') barun; Nicholas of Buckland ('Boklande'); Roger son of Aylward ('Eilwardus'); Godfrey son of Hereward

Endorsed 'Vacat' and 'Eilwarton' in 14th cent hands.
