Date[1273x1275]
DescriptionAdditions to the libel submitted on behalf of the subprior and convent of Dover Priory against the prior and convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory, concerning a confirmation obtained by the cathedral priory from Pope Urban [IV] and a composition between the two houses, by which the cathedral priory claimed jurisdiction over Dover Priory sede vacante. Includes Dover Priory's claim that the cathedral priory has infringed the terms of its foundation, by which the king [not named] intended it to be solely under the authority of the archbishop, and that this is to the prejudice of the king and his successors. No date. [Date: There were two series of papally delegated hearings in this case: Kilwardby's (1273-5) and Pecham's (1282). The medieval numbering suggests that the document belongs to the earlier case.]

Endorsed with description in late 13th cent hand.
