Description | Acta before the official of the court of Canterbury, commissary of Robert Kilwardby, archbishop of Canterbury, in St Mary-le-Bow church, London, on 7 Dec 1273 and at subsequent continuations until 12 Dec. The archbishop is acting as papal judge delegate in a case between the subprior and convent of Dover Priory, represented by the subprior as its proctor, and the prior and convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory, whose proctor is Mgr Walter de Tremfeld', clerk, concerning the restoration of a composition between the two priories and the breaking of the composition. The cathedral priory was to propose all dilatory exceptions in writing and Dover Priory was to present its allegations against the exceptions. On 12 Dec Walter exhibited his letters of proxy from the prior and chapter and Geoffrey of Romney, monk of Canterbury. Dover Priory objected that the exceptions had not been proposed by a suitable proctor, but the judge decided that Walter had been empowered to make them and admitted him as proctor and approved the exceptions. 17 Jan was assigned as the date to dispute the exceptions.
