Description | From: Gerard, master of the schools of Parma, papal chaplain, auditor of contradictory letters
Mgr Mathias, canon of 'Theacin'' [unidentified], proctor of the prior and convent of Dover Priory, obtained papal letters, dated 11 May 1276 at the Lateran, from Pope Innocent V, revoking a case concerning goods of the priory which have been illegally alienated or distrained, to the court of the archdeacon of Middlesex in St Paul's Cathedral, London ('ecclesia londinien''). Philip de Pomonte, clerk, proctor of the prior and convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory, opposed these letters, but withdrew his objection because they did not affect the cathedral priory, which the other party promised before the auditor. 'P d' pomonte' on seal tongue. Given at the Lateran, Rome [Roma, Italy].
Endorsed with description in late 13th cent hand. |
