Description | Memorandum made in St Mary-le-Bow church, London, on 17 Mar 1274, by the official of the court of Canterbury, commissary of Archbishop Robert Kilwardby, papal judge delegate in a case between the subprior and convent of Dover Priory and the prior and chapter of Canterbury Cathedral Priory, concerning the restoration of a composition between the two priories and the breaking of the composition. On 14 Mar the official had dismissed the parties from his court and remitted the case to Rome and had assigned a date of 26 Apr for them to appear in that court. Acta in the same case, 15 Mar 1274, continued from 13 Mar. A day had been assigned for the parties to receive a decision on a declinatory exception submitted on behalf of the cathedral priory and continue with the case. Dover Priory was represented by the subprior as its proctor and Mgr Walter de Tremfeld' was the cathedral priory's proctor. The official decided to remit the case to Rome and appointed a date of 26 Apr for it to be heard. On 17 Mar the court reconvened to consider the exception, the fixing of the date and the interlocutory sentence. Dover Priory objected to the interlocutory sentence and the cathedral priory would not agree to the case being remitted to Rome. The official therefore revoked the interlocutory sentence and the appointed date. No date. [Date: latest date in document.] |
