Description | From: Mgr Walter de Tremfeld', proctor of the prior and convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory and of Geoffrey of Romney, priory monk
Exception against the subprior and convent of Dover Priory in a case before the archbishop of Canterbury, acting as papal judge delegate. The cathedral priory, having been summoned to receive judgement, appeared on a certain day before the official of the court of Canterbury, who was the archbishop's commissary, but Dover Priory did not, and the cathedral priory incurred heavy expenses as a result. Walter claims these expenses from Dover Priory. No date. [Date: date of Dover Priory's non-appearance as in the endorsement.]
Endorsed with description and note that the event referred to in the exception occurred on 26 Jul 1274 in late 13th cent hands. |
