Description	From: Richard of Wincheap, prior of Dover St Martin To: R, subprior of Canterbury Cathedral Priory; the convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory Seeking absolution from a sentence of excommunication passed against him after he had appealed to the pope, although the fact that he had appealed may mean that the sentence was not binding. His conscience is clear, but he offers to seek absolution and appoint a proctor to swear that if he has offended in this matter he will obey the cathedral priory. Given at Dover [Kent]. Endorsed with description in late 13th cent hand.
