The prior delivered a charter for a messuage and 1 furlong of land in Doccombe to John. John, on the prior's behalf, received all the documents concerning those lands from William, and William swore in the priory's chapter house that he had delivered them to John. Afterwards, John delivered the charter to William, although he should have kept it for the priory. William is bound to the priory in £40, payable as specified. If, however, William delivers all the documents to John in accordance with his oath, the bond shall be void and shall be handed over by Thomas Peny, clerk of John Martyn, at the next assizes in Exeter.
