Description | Acta before R[ichard de Swinfield] archdeacon of London and R[obert] de Stowe canon of St Paul's Cathedral, London, commissaries with R[alph de Baldock], archdeacon of Middlesex, who was absent, of John Pecham, archbishop of Canterbury, papal judge delegate, in the chapter house of St Paul's Cathedral on 12 Nov 1282, continued on 17 Nov. Concerning a case relating to the restoration of a composition between the subprior and convent of Dover Priory, represented by the subprior as its proctor, and the prior and chapter of Canterbury Cathedral Priory, whose proctor is Mgr Hugh de Derby, clerk, substitute for Mgr John of Dover, the priory's principal proctor. Hugh is also proctor for Geoffrey of Romney, monk of Canterbury Cathedral Priory. The cathedral priory has proposed certain recusations concerning Robert de Stowe. The parties disputed these recusations and the judges, wishing to consult with their absent colleague, appointed 23 Jan 1283 as the date for the next hearing.
