Description | From: Robert Hathbrande, prior of Canterbury Cathedral Priory; the chapter of Canterbury Cathedral Priory To: James de Oxene, I, monk of Canterbury Cathedral Priory; John Hedecrone, monk of Canterbury Cathedral Priory
There has been a dispute between the cathedral priory and the subprior and convent of Dover Priory concerning the cathedral priory's claim that Dover Priory belongs to it when the see of Canterbury is vacant and that it is entitled to appoint one of its monks as prior of Dover. Wishing to reach an agreement, the cathedral priory appoints James and John to act as its proctors in this matter and receive the decision of Archbishop Simon Islip, who is acting as arbitrator. Details of powers vested in the proctors. Given at the chapter house of Canterbury Cathedral Priory.
Endorsed 'Sancti Martini Dovor'' in late 14th cent hand. |
