The messuage and a house which he had after the death of [Hugh], his father, in Northgate ward outside the wall of the city of Canterbury, lying with the messuage of Robert son of Hugh le cartere to south, Robert's messuage to north, the land of the monks of Canterbury Cathedral Priory to east and the king's highway to west. For annual payments of 13½d to the lords of the fee and ½d as a quit-rent ('forgabulum') payable to Richard on the tenement, both payable as specified, for all services except royal service. For this Robert has paid 2 marks as a gersum fine. Dated after St John the Baptist's day 37HenIII.
