A vacant piece of land at Queningate, Canterbury, in St Michael's [Burgate] parish, 37 feet wide on the north side ('caput'), next to the priory's garden, 17 perches long on the east side under the city walls, 16 perches and 14 feet on the west side next to the priory's garden and 46 feet wide on the south side next to the priory's vacant land (measurements defined). With the easement, use and profit of the new tower and the new wall of the city. For a term of 13 years. For an annual payment of 6s 8d, payable as specified. Conditions on repairs. Right of distraint in the priory's tenements of 'le Cheker' and 'le Crowne' in St Andrew's parish and re-entry into the land if payment in arrears. If the priory or anyone on its behalf rescues anything distrained or breaks open the park containing the distraint the priory will pay the city 6s 8d. The priory binds itself to the city in £20 to maintain the property. Reserving to the priory an annual pension of 2s from the chapel of Queningate. The city grants that the priory may build a stone wall to enclose the south end of the land between the city's wall to east and the priory's garden to west and demolish it and take away the materials at the end of the term. The city also grants that the priory may build a wooden door between St Michael's church and the house late of Alice widow of Henry Baker provided that dung, filth and other shameful things are not brought in there.
