Description | From: Arnold gich To: the prior and convent of Canterbury Cathedral Priory
[Document badly damaged. Many details, including Arnold's surname, description of the property and names of witnesses, supplied from the registered versions.] All his land in Mercery Lane ('merceria') which he received to be held of the priory. Made, acknowledged and confirmed in the priory's capital court, the borough moot ('burgimotus') of the city of Canterbury and the ward moot ('bertha') of Burgate. For this the priory has paid 8 marks. Chirograph, one part deposited with the priory and the other in the custody of the citizens of Canterbury. No date. [Date: dates of Goldwin the mercer and Eudo son of Sigar as bailiffs of Canterbury.]
