(1) Given in Latin and Old English. Writ of King Stephen, addressed to his earls, thanes, sheriffs and other subjects, French and English, in shires in which Archbishop Theobald and the cathedral priory hold land. He has granted to them the lands which they held under Edward the Confessor, William I and Henry I. [Date: 1138x1154, from dates of Stephen and Theobald.]
(2) Given in Latin. Writ of Henry II, as DCc-ChAnt/C/17. Addressed to his bishops, earls, thanes, justices, sheriffs and other subjects, English and French, in shires in which Archbishop Theobald and the cathedral priory hold land. He has granted to the priory the lands and liberties which it held under Edward the Confessor, William I and Henry I. Witness list. Given at York. [Date: 1155x1157, probably Jan/Feb 1155. (3) Given in Latin. Writ of John, addressed to his bishops, earls, thanes, sheriffs and other subjects, French and English, in shires in which Archbishop Hubert Walter and the cathedral priory hold land. He has granted to the archbishop and priory the lands they held under Henry II, Richard I and their predecessors. Witnessed by R[oger], bishop of St Andrews, William [d'Aubigny], earl of Arundel, and Hugh de Gornaco. Given by the hands of Simon, archdeacon of Wells, and John de Gray. [?26] Sep 1199.
