He has granted to Stigand, archbishop of Canterbury, and the community at Christ Church all the lands they held under him and under his predecessors, and judicial and financial rights over their men and thegns. Addressed to his bishops, earls, sheriffs and thegns in the shires in which they hold land. [Original datable to 1052x1066. Stigand became archbishop in 1052. This version dated by handwriting to c1100 by Harmer, as below, p176.] Words obscured on recto by tear and stitching copied on verso.
