Copy of DCc-ChAnt/C/39. Defining the priory's administrative, financial and judicial rights on its manors. With provisions for the see being vacant. For these privileges the priory will pay 40 marks annually to the archbishop's treasury at Canterbury, with Godmersham manor placed as security. Also determining the advowson of specified churches. Defining the archbishop's right to appoint to priory offices. The archbishop renounces actions relating to oblations from Becket's shrine. This agreement was made after the prior brought a case against the archbishop before 'Dominus' Hugh le Bigod, chief justiciary, at Westminster in 43HenIII (ie 1258-1259). |
