DescriptionLater version of DCc-ChAnt/C/1, as dated by Birch by handwriting. Original dated 803. Declaration by Æthelheard, archbishop of Canterbury, and bishops and higher clergy not to appoint lay lords over religious houses and to follow monastic discipline. This is in accordance with a mandate from Pope Leo III. Subscriptions, with crosses, by all 12 bishops of province, followed by names of 26 abbots and priests, listed according to diocese. Made at the council of 'Clofesho' ('cloveshos').
