| Description | From: Henry II, king of England
Given in both languages. Addressed to his bishops, earls, thanes, justices, sheriffs and other subjects, English and French, in shires in which Archbishop Theobald and the cathedral priory hold land. He has granted to the priory the lands and liberties which it held under Edward the Confessor, William I and Henry I. Witness list in Latin version only. No date. [Date: after the appointment of Becket as chancellor, and before the disgrace of Henry of Essex in Jul 1157. The only known visit by the king to York in this period was in Jan/Feb 1155.
