DescriptionUnder orders from King Edward [I], some priory buildings, including a granary, were sequestrated. As a consequence, some grain went rotten. Stephen of Sandwich, priory monk, granator, asked the notary to witness subsequent events, of which he gives an account. Two citizens of Canterbury, Adam 'dictus' Beel and Simon Bartholomei, were acting for the king. Dated 6 Mar 1298, at the granary. Also present were the workmen, namely John de Neugate, Philip Bommere, Henry the bakehouse servant ('garcio pistrini'), Henry Roolf, Gilbert the miller, John Molling, William Puppe, Hamo de Maydestane and Richard de Stoutinge. With notarial sign of Henry de Tichefeld, clerk, notary public, of Winchester diocese, who wrote the document.
