On 29 Sep 1445 Richard Wakeherste, senior, and Thomas Betenham granted to them, as well as to Richard Neuton, knight, chief justice of the Bench, Thomas Lewkenore, knight, and John Gorsich and John Crakall, clerks, now all deceased, Bilsington manor and lands in Newchurch, Ruckinge, Bilsington, Woodchurch, Bonnington, Mersham, Aldington, Kingsnorth and Shadoxhurst [all Kent]. Also the reversion of a messuage in St Alphege's parish, Canterbury, which John Browne lately inhabited and which Joan, his widow, holds for her lifetime. Granting this messuage to Alexander as a dwelling house for him and his successors. King [Henry VI] granted a licence for this dated 24 Nov 1446, at Westminster. Also granting him an annual payment of £10 payable after the death of Joan, widow of William Brenchley ('Brenchesle'), knight, from Bilsington manor and the other lands. With right of distraint if payment in arrears. Clerk given as Broke. With sign manual of Thomas Hoo.
